1. Introduction
Plan Vault ("Plan Vault," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly. Plan Vault operates as an advisor matching and referral service that connects individuals seeking help with their financial planning to licensed financial advisors ("Advisors") based on each individual's situation and stated needs.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard personal information obtained through our websites, questionnaires, and matching service.
By submitting information through any Plan Vault-operated form, page, or funnel, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. How Plan Vault Works (Important Disclosure)
Plan Vault is not a registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, financial planner, or fiduciary. We do not provide investment, financial, tax, or legal advice.
Our role is limited to:
- Collecting information through our questionnaires so we can understand your situation
- Analyzing your responses to match you with one or more Advisors suited to your needs
- Introducing you to the Advisor or Advisors matched to you, who will contact you using the information you have provided
All financial planning advice, recommendations, suitability determinations, and disclosures occur solely between you and the financial planning professional or professionals you are matched with. We facilitate the connection but do not participate in the advisory relationship.

b. Information Collected Through Advertising Platforms

4. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- To respond to your inquiry and process your request for financial planning
- To analyze your responses and match you with appropriate matched Advisors
- To deliver your information to matched financial planning professionals
- To communicate with you about your inquiry and the matching process
- To improve our matching algorithm and platform functionality
- To improve how people find and use our service

- To conduct analytics and measure how well our matching service works
5. How We Share Your Information
We may share personal information with:
a. Financial Planning Partners
Your information (including your responses to our questionnaire) may be shared with independent financial planners, wealth advisors, and financial planning firms in our partner network who match your profile and financial planning needs. These professionals are independent contractors and are not employees or agents of Plan Vault.
b. Service Providers
Third-party vendors who support our operations, including:
- Customer relationship management (CRM) and communication platforms
- Marketing technology and analytics providers
- Website hosting and infrastructure providers
- Payment processors and data security providers
c. Advertising Platforms
Information may be shared with advertising platforms (e.g., Meta/Facebook, Google) in connection with lead submission, campaign optimization, and audience segmentation.

We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Plan Vault, our users, or the public.
e. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Important Disclosure: By submitting your information through Plan Vault, you consent to receive communications from us and our matched Advisors regarding services relevant to your inquiry. You acknowledge that your information will be shared with financial planning professionals in our network.
Submitting the questionnaire results in your personal information being sold and shared, as those words are defined by California law. California defines a "sale" as disclosing personal information to a third party for money or other valuable consideration, and a "share" as disclosing it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Advisors in Plan Vault's network pay Plan Vault to be introduced to people like you, and the introduction is the disclosure. So under those definitions Plan Vault sells and shares personal information, and the questionnaire submission is what causes it to happen. That is the service you are asking us to perform, and it is the reason the review costs you nothing.
We say this plainly rather than relying on the narrower everyday meaning of "selling data." Plan Vault does not auction your information to unrelated buyers, list-brokers, or the open market. Disclosures under this section go to the Advisors matched to your situation and to the service providers that operate the matching system.
You can direct us to stop. See section 7, Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
6. Categories of Personal Information We Collect and Disclose
This section uses the category names set out in the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"). It covers the most recent 12 months.
| Category | What this means in practice | Sold or shared with Advisors | Also disclosed to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, phone number, IP address | Yes | Service providers |
| Customer records (Cal. Civ. Code 1798.80) | Name, telephone number, and the asset range you select | Yes | Service providers |
| Protected classification characteristics | Your age, which the questionnaire collects on a slider | Yes | Service providers |
| Internet or network activity | Pages visited, referring URL, and the campaign or click identifiers carried in the link you arrived on | Yes, attached to your record | Advertising platforms, service providers |
| Geolocation data | The state you select, plus city or state level location inferred from your IP address | Yes | Service providers |
| Inferences | The match category we derive from your answers | Yes | Service providers |
Sources: you, directly, through the questionnaire; your browser and device; and the advertising platform you arrived from, where applicable. The business purposes are the ones listed in section 4.
Sensitive personal information. Plan Vault does not collect the categories California treats as sensitive. The questionnaire never asks for a Social Security number, an account number, a login credential, a precise location, health information, or racial, religious, or union information. Because we do not collect it, there is nothing to limit under the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
Minors. Plan Vault does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and does not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
7. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
You have the right to direct Plan Vault to stop selling or sharing your personal information. Exercising it costs nothing, requires no account, and we will not treat you differently for using it.
Two things are worth knowing before you do. First, the introduction to one or more Advisors is the service, so opting out means we will not match you with any Advisor. Second, an introduction already made cannot be recalled: an Advisor who already has your information keeps their own record of it under their own privacy policy, and you would need to contact that Advisor or Advisors directly.
To opt out, email privacy@planvault.org with the phone number and email address you submitted, or use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, which sets out exactly what to send. If you would rather use one address for everything, or you do not hear back within 10 business days, send the same request to susan@planvault.org and it will reach the same people. We honor requests within the window applicable law allows, and no later than 45 days from receipt.
8. Consent and Communications
By submitting your information through Plan Vault:
- You consent to receive communications from us and our matched Advisors
- Communications may include phone calls, emails, text messages, and other contact methods
- Messages may be sent using automated technology and pre-recorded messages
- You consent to the sharing of your information with matched financial planning professionals
Providing consent is not a condition of purchasing any products or services. However, without consent, we cannot match you with matched Advisors or facilitate the connection.
9. SMS, Calls, and TCPA Compliance
Plan Vault complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and other applicable telecommunications regulations.
- Express written consent is obtained through your submission of lead forms and questionnaires
- Caller ID information is displayed on all outbound calls
- You may opt out of communications at any time by replying "STOP" to SMS messages or by contacting us directly
- Calls and messages are delivered only between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM in your local time zone
- We do not intentionally place abandoned or spoofed calls
- Calls may be recorded for quality assurance and compliance purposes
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to:
- Fulfill the purposes described in this policy
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements
- Maintain records for business and accounting purposes
Data is generally retained for up to 36 months, unless a longer period is required by law or you request deletion sooner. Financial Advisors may retain your information according to their own privacy policies and regulatory requirements.
11. Your Privacy Rights (United States)
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:
- Access personal information we hold about you
- Request correction or amendment of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and of targeted advertising
- Limit the use and disclosure of your personal information
- Receive information about our data practices in a portable format
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
- Use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf
- Appeal a decision we make about your request, where your state provides that right
These rights apply under state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), and similar state statutes.
The opt-out right is the one that matters most here, because Plan Vault does sell and share personal information as section 5 describes. Section 7 and the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page explain how to use it.
Note: Some information may not be deletable if we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or business purposes. Additionally, deletion requests may not affect information already shared with matched Advisors.
12. How to Exercise Your Rights
Email privacy@planvault.org. That address exists for privacy requests, a person reads it, and requests sent to it are answered within the statutory window set out below. susan@planvault.org reaches the same people and works for any request too, so use whichever you prefer. Our contact page lists our other details.
Please include the following in your request:
- Your full name
- The email address and phone number you submitted, so we can find your record
- The state you live in, since your rights depend on it
- What you are asking for: access, correction, deletion, portability, or opt-out
We use those details only to verify the request and to find the matching record, and we delete them afterwards if we hold nothing else for you. If an authorized agent submits on your behalf, send written permission signed by you along with the request.
We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law, no later than 45 days, and we will tell you if we need the one extension the law permits.
13. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption, secure data storage, access controls, and regular security assessments.
However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. You acknowledge that you provide information at your own risk.
If we become aware of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
Our websites and communications may contain links to third-party websites, including those of our matched Advisors. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, security measures, or content of those third-party sites.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites before providing your information. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and privacy policies, not this Privacy Policy.
15. Cookies, Tracking, and Global Privacy Control
The two surfaces behave differently, so this section separates them instead of covering both with one sentence.
This website, planvault.org. It sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising pixel, analytics tag, or session recorder. The pages load a web font from an outside host and nothing else; every image is served from planvault.org itself. Reading this site leaves no tracking identifier on your browser.
The questionnaire. The questionnaire is hosted by our forms provider and does more. It records a consent certificate through TrustedForm, which captures the page and your interaction with it so there is proof of what you agreed to. On visits that arrive from a paid advertisement it also loads a Meta pixel and a tag manager container, and it reads the campaign and click identifiers from the link you clicked. Those identifiers travel with your record, which is why they appear in the table in section 6.
Global Privacy Control. Global Privacy Control ("GPC") is a setting some browsers and extensions send automatically to signal that you want to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information. There is nothing on planvault.org for a GPC signal to switch off, because the site sets no tracking cookies to begin with. Where we receive a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request for that browser. A GPC signal cannot reach a record you already submitted, so if you have already completed the questionnaire, email privacy@planvault.org as well.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Some browsers also send a "Do Not Track" header, which has no agreed meaning and which this site does not act on separately; GPC is the signal we honor.
16. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
Parents or guardians who believe we have collected information from a minor should contact us immediately through our support channels.
17. International Users
Plan Vault is operated in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from your country of residence.
By submitting your information, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and its processing under this Privacy Policy and applicable U.S. law.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. Updates will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date above.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on our website or by sending you an email notification. Continued use of our services following notification of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
